What is a Direct Current?

Direct current (DC) is an electrical flow streamlined in one direction at a constant magnititude.

What is a DC battery?

Energy storage batteries can be DC or AC coupled. This differentiates the form of energy required for the battery to receive and disperse power.

Solar energy is created in DC form which can be immediately sent to DC batteries for storage. Later, when it’s time to send the energy into the home, it must be converted into AC energy through a separate inverter before being dispersed throughout the home.

While DC batteries are the most efficient, they are more difficult to retrofit into existing systems as they require compatibility with a separate inverter.
