Greenhouse Gases

What are Greenhouse Gases?

Greenhouse gases trap heat in Earth’s atmosphere by allowing sunlight to enter freely while preventing some radiation from escaping into outter space.

Trapping some heat is crucial to sustain life on Earth, but human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, have lead to enhanced greenhouse effects that are proving to be detrimental.

The greenhouse effect contributes greatly to global warming and climate change. Common greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methan, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases.

How Does Solar Impact Greenhouse Gases?

Solar power generation does not produce greenhouse gases as opposed to non-renewable energy generation methods like gas or nuclear power plants. It is estimated that solar saves hundreds of millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases from entering our atmosphere annually.
