Greenhouse Gases

What are Greenhouse Gases?

Greenhouse gases trap heat in Earth’s atmosphere by allowing sunlight to enter freely while preventing some radiation from escaping normally.

Trapping some heat is crucial to sustain life on Earth but human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation have lead to enhanced greenhouse effects.

The greenhouse effect contributes greatly to global warming and climate change. Common greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methan, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases.
