What is a Power Optimizer?

An power optimizer is a device used in solar energy systems that work to optimize the production of each panel on an individual scale before sending the energy down into the electric flow and into the central inverter.

Power optimizers are typically equipped on string inverter systems to prevent the “Christmas tree light effect” from occurring—the disadvantage of string inverter systems where one panel’s low production rate compromises the whole system’s production.

Additional Benefits of Power Optimizers

Power optimizers allow for each panel to be monitored individually, making it much easier to track down panels that need servicing and solve issues with the system.

Systems equipped with power optimizers are often more efficient than systems without, leading more energy generation and a higher return on investment.
